So my best friend and I have finally done something we’ve talked about doing for years and years: we got an apartment together.

There were plenty of days where we never thought that would happen, but on November 20th, 2010, the day finally arrived and we signed a lease on our apartment in Altamonte Springs. It’s so excited!

Funnily enough, her name is Kara– apparently my roommates can only be named Kara. I’ll probably have to get a dog and name it Kara after we aren’t roommates any more, so I can always live with a Kara in both of their memories.

Anyways, I am sure Kara and I will be going through lots of crazy things, because we’re crazy. Here was the first “incident” of ours, which happened to be on Thanksgiving night.

There we go!

It’s been 2 weeks since I moved out of my sweet precious apartment in Savannah, Georgia, and said goodbye to my dear roommate and wonderful friends. That probably was one of the saddest things I’ve ever done, but it’s exciting too… I also don’t think it’s quite set in yet.

I went to Savannah this past weekend too, to see my favorite band (The Avett Brothers!!!!!!) play. It was so fun. They were so good.

Now that’s over, and we have internet back in this house in the hot and sunny Orlando, Florida, I have finally updated the portfolio section of this blog with all photos from my senior portfolio! So please! Check it out!

I still have images I want to post, and I will be making some things in the upcoming months that I will photograph and add to the section as they come.

And just a little update- I want a creative job in the Orlando area.

Love love.

So… I graduate in approximately 27 days.

It’s exciting and terrifying at the same time. I have so much to do by then (actually by May 14th!!!) but it’ll happen.

That means no blogging. I’m in the process of getting business cards printed and purchasing a domain name and will eventually put together a website, but that won’t be for a bit longer.

For now, here’s a video of Kara and I from probably about a month ago doing OK Go’s “A Million Ways” outside of our apartment. We learned that dance our freshman year!

OK Go’s original:

Bye for now!

Crazy! I only have 66 days left until I’m sitting in a massive and hot cap and gown. How thrilling!!!

There is much left to do before I get there, and I still need to photograph the quilt I made, but today is not the day for that.

But here are some things I’ve been up to-

To end last quarter, my dear friend- Joel Boyd- graduated.

Sad! But exciting for him, because he’s married and needed to get back to his lovely wife who was waiting for him in Arkansas.

Then I went home for spring break for a few days.

Then I came back to Savannah because of St. Patrick’s day craziness, and also got a cool tattoo.

Way more has been going on, but I’m afraid the park is calling my name so this update is over.

Happy Spring!!!!!

Despite the fact that it is finals week (well, almost) and I have a million things to do, I am seriously pumped and excited.
Bible study tonight was really good. I am always inspired by each of the girls that come over to Kara and my house so faithfully every Wednesday night. I think this has by far been the best quarter for the group. It’s been the quarter of the most consistency and we’ve just been building really good relationships with eachother. Truly, it’s been amazing and I love all of those girls dearly.

I am finding myself continually challenged in new areas, in every possible part of my life it seems, and while it is sometimes overwhelming, other days it is just inspiring. Today has been a day of both of those emotions but I am ending today with joy and peace the God has a wonderful plan for me and my future jab/career. I am so excited just about everything. Life in general and to see how all of these things running around in my head are going to play out.

Man. I love Jesus and how he continually inspires me to be more creative, have meaningful relationships, and to just be better.

11 more weeks left of school. I am strangely optimistic about this right now and feel strangely revived to finish. Let’s go.

Yesterday I woke up at 4.45am and worked from 5.15-10am. Then at 11 I went to Working Class Studio, and stayed there until 1ish, went to the library to do more Working Class stuff (Illustrator and Photoshop things- very technical for me, which is good) and went back to Working Class from 3-5 to put in 2 hours for my internship where I cut transparencies, moved boxes, and glued pieces of cardboard together.

When I got home, Working Class still seemed to be on my mind as I have a lot to do for that before Friday. So I was telling Kara all the things I had to do, and decided I would need to reclaim a silk screen so I could burn a new one for screen printing today. So that required me to take off a bunch of “blue tape” (aka the best tape in the world) from one of the screens off, so I can wash it out.

So by the end of it, I had this big ball of blue tape, and said to Kara, “I wonder if I throw this at the wall if it will stick.” So I threw the ball really hard at the wall, hoping it would stick, but it just bounced back.

We thought this was pretty fun, so we kept doing it for a little while, but then figured we should stop because we didn’t want to disturb our neighbors (or for them to think something bad was happening to us).

So then we started hitting it back and forth to each other in the little back room of our apartment. I was worried we were going to knock something over, so I suggested us going into the living room to play, but I somehow only made it through the doorway.

And then see what happened.

Here is the last part of our game, when we had gotten way better and you can understand more of the rules of “Tape Ball”.

We probably played for an hour. We kept thinking “who are we??!” because that was just a strange thing for us to do for so long. But it was fun.

We felt like Monica, Ross, and Joey in “The one with the ball.”

Ever since 2006 when I graduated high school and chose to attend SCAD, I have been saying that 2010 was the year.

It once seemed so far away, but surprisingly, it’s arrived, and it seems like hardly any time has passed at all!

It’s hard to believe that in a matter of months I will be a college graduate! I will have to get a real job!!!

I am so excited about what this year is going to bring. I’ve set goals, and I am very excited about all of them, and about everything I’m seeking to accomplish this year. It’s going to be productive, and amazing.

To end 2009, and to start 2010, we had a masquerade ball at my church, and I ended 2009 and entered 2010 with dancing. It was so fun, and refreshing, because I felt like I hadn’t had a proper dance party since I was in Lacoste! (And I had been very use to having daily dance parities, so it was wonderful to dance again.)

Now I am back in Savannah, and it is strange, but I am settling into everything nicely. It feels strange I haven’t been here in 7 months, but it also feels like I was never even gone. It’s just like when I go home to Orlando after a while, like I wasn’t even gone. I guess places that are considered “home” are just easy to fall back into your normal routine and just go.

I start back at Starbucks on Thursday, I started my internship at Working Class Studio today, I have my first advanced 2 class for Fibers tomorrow, the girls Bible study that meets at my apartment is back up and running on Wednesday (and I am VERY excited about it), and I’ll be back to Canvas and CSF (formerly called “180”) on Sunday.

I am excited for this last 5 months at SCAD and to see what God’s going to do and how he’s going to use me here as things are wrapping up.

It’s going to be a wonderful year.
